Climatogram & Temperatures of the Vents.
The heat source for the hydrothermal vents is the magma beneath the volcanic ridge system. The water heats up to 300-400 ºC and becomes extremely corrosive as sea water goes into the area of of molten rock. This heated water rises quickly back to the surface and through the hydrothermal vents back into the ocean. Vents with high temperatures are typically surrounded by vents with low temperatures.
